Founders Dana Arbel, RYT 200 and Ashley Burns, RYT 500 are community activists who have over 10 years combined teaching experience.
Their work focuses on breaking down the multiple barriers that hinder community members from focusing on their own health and wellness. They have formed multiple partnerships within the Phoenix community, collaborating to bring all aspects of yoga to unique outdoors spaces, while supporting local artists and businesses.
Founder & Director of Operations
Dana Arbel found healing through yoga. After years of struggling with identity, body image, and mental health, yoga gave her the tools to cultivate peace within. Dana trained at Urban Yoga in 2011 under the tutelage of Dave and Cheryl Oliver. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Arts, Dana’s teaching emphasizes individual expression through movement. As a first generation American with a multiethnic identity, Dana grew up searching for her place of belonging. Creating a space that is inclusive and welcoming to all is built into the blueprint of DiRTYOGA. Establishing a strong sense of self while cultivating community drives Dana to continue teaching and shining!
Founder & Creative Director
For Los Angeles native Ashley Burns, yoga is curiosity, trust, and freedom. Her soul has been rich with these elements her whole life and thankfully her practice helped direct these energies to shape a balanced lifestyle. Ashley received her first 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training at The Southwest Institute of Healing Arts under the direction of Laura McKenzie and Mary Bruce amongst other great teachers. In 2015 she was gifted the opportunity to continue her education in Costa Rica with Jenn Chiarelli's Anahata Soul 200-hour Intensive. Ashley is a BELIEVER who thrives off sharing the tools she has been given to bring students back to their light.
